Flycav.com Icon : (Today, 04:49 PM) That PC you saw at Staples isn't bad for $579 (although I could probably custom-build the same one cheaper), but that's more of a high-end FS9 PC. FSX will start on it, but you won't enjoy the flying at all.
Flycav.com Icon : (Today, 04:48 PM) FSX is very CPU-intensive. I could probably get away with my current 9800GTX video card in a new PC, but you need AT LEAST a Core i5, if not an i7 for FSX. The i5 is okay, but its going to have limited capabilities down the road. The i7 is just a bit more expensive, and you get a whole lot more power for your money; and FSX demands CPU power. If you're building a new FSX PC, do NOT cheap out on the CPU
Flycav.com Icon : (Today, 04:46 PM) Actually, no its not, sorry to burst your bubble. The Core i3 is pretty much the replacement for the Core 2 Duo, and that graphics card is integrated, you need a high-end one by NVIDIA or ATI for FSX
Cristian Avram Icon : (Today, 02:50 PM) And i saw a pretty cheap tower at Staples the other day, HP pavillion, 1TB hardrive, iCore3 processor, Mobile intel 512 HD graphic card, 4GB ram. All this for $579. No monitor. I'd say thats pretty good for FSX!
Cristian Avram Icon : (Today, 01:52 AM) Well water looks amazing if you have REX :) And i was forced to move to fs9 since my laptop can't handle FSX, real shame. Hopefully if i get a new computer, i'll move back to FSX. I'll search up FSGlobal Kyle, thanks. Guys over at Delta Virtual told me about FSGenesis...never heard of it
Flycav.com Icon : (Today, 01:00 AM) I need $$$ so I can build a high-end FSX computer :(
Flycav.com Icon : (Today, 01:00 AM) When I built my PC though, it was for like high-end FS9, then bought the new video card and switched to FSX
Flycav.com Icon : (Today, 01:00 AM) Thats why I moved to FSX in the first place lol..water and terrain in FS9 looks like shit
KyleH Icon : (Today, 12:52 AM) FSGlobal 2005 is good for terrain mesh. The only terrain textures I've got are free ones from Flight Ontario, and a few payware airports
Cristian Avram Icon : (Yesterday, 09:40 PM) That's for FS9 i'm asking btw
Cristian Avram Icon : (Yesterday, 09:40 PM) What do you all recommend for improving the terrain mesh for FS? I've already got REX for water and weather and such. Just lookin for something good that'll make the terrain look you know....good :P
Cristian Avram Icon : (Yesterday, 09:15 PM) Oh no haha
KyleH Icon : (Yesterday, 04:14 PM) Ah..I thought you were refering to some manual with the Q400...lol
Cristian Avram Icon : (Yesterday, 04:01 PM) The manual visual approach you had to do...
KyleH Icon : (Yesterday, 03:49 PM) What manual?
Cristian Avram Icon : (Yesterday, 02:24 AM) Well lets welcome our second addition, DH-Q400, C-FYUR! Just touched down at YYC and parked at the ramp :D
Cristian Avram Icon : (Yesterday, 12:53 AM) Perhaps we should issue a travel advisory for the east atlantic coast, in light of the approaching Hurricane Earl?
Cristian Avram Icon : (01 September 2010 - 11:52 PM) Also nice job on the manual :)
Cristian Avram Icon : (01 September 2010 - 11:41 PM) Wow, let me just say, the Q400 is a dream to fly. Just took off from KDEN. I got a great panel for it that has a NAV follow GPS function, if anyone wants it :D
Flycav.com Icon : (01 September 2010 - 11:06 PM) And no ILS to boot...backcourse ILS for navigation, but no glideslope..took her in manually on a visual app :P
